About: One of the most sacred woods, Sandalwood is an essential for prayer throughout the world’s religions. Used in aromatics, sandalwood is a calming guide, providing grounding energy and relaxation of the conscious mind. Citrus peel and geranium are dried and ground into the mixture, bringing out floral notes and a burst of orange and vanilla.

Indian/Asian white and red sandalwood are endangered due to over exploitation and are not used in my incense. Common sandalwood products, essential oils and fragrances contribute to over-harvesting. I use an alternative of the same species, Pterocarpus soyauxii, wildcrafted from Gabon in small quantities, it is known as Chandana or African Coralwood. It is native to Africa been used in daily life for thousands of years for its hardwood, brilliant color and edible, medicinal qualities. The tree is multi-use and has become one of the 10 most important export timbers for Gabon.

How to use: Ancestor is made in small quantities and meant to burned with intent. Like wine, the desired qualities of incense improve with age and will only intensify with time. Ancestor burns best in an upright position with open air flow. Never burn incense in unventilated spaces.
